Mineral Processing

Ore as it leaves the mine is rarely ready to sell. Processing crushes it, separates the valuable minerals from the waste and upgrades them to the quality the market asks for.

Areas

  1. Crushing and Grinding

Crushing rock and grinding it until the valuable minerals are freed from the host rock. It is usually the most energy-hungry step in a plant.

  2. Screening and Sizing

Separating crushed material into set size ranges with screens and classifiers. Good sizing makes every later processing step work better.

  3. Flotation

Separating minerals by how their surfaces behave in water, using air bubbles and reagents. Flotation is the main process for many metal ores.

  4. Magnetic Separation

Separating magnetic minerals such as magnetite from non-magnetic material with a magnetic field. This simple, economical method is widely used for iron ore.

  5. Gravity Separation

Separating minerals by differences in density using jigs, shaking tables and spirals. Gravity separation needs no chemical reagents.

  6. Leaching and Heap Leaching

Dissolving metal out of ore with chemical solutions, either in tanks or on large heaps of ore. It is used for low-grade ores.

  7. Gold and Precious Metals Processing

Recovering gold and silver from ore with methods such as carbon adsorption and smelting. Close control and safety are essential throughout.

  8. Dewatering and Tailings Management

Recovering water from plant tailings and storing processing waste safely. Good tailings management reduces water use and contains environmental risk.

Equipment

  1. Crushing and Grinding Equipment

Jaw and cone crushers, ball and rod mills and their ancillary equipment. The right choice depends on rock hardness and plant throughput.

  2. Separation and Beneficiation Equipment

Flotation cells, magnetic separators, jigs and shaking tables. This equipment separates the valuable fraction from the waste.

  3. Leaching and Processing Equipment

Agitated tanks, pumps, solution distribution systems and metal recovery equipment. Sound design cuts the use of reagents and water.
